	<p>The Peter Nurkse Digital Collection (1846-1906, bulk 1906) is a small collection of digital images donated by Peter Nurkse. The collection contains digital reproductions of the works of early California artists' D.H Goddar and C.R. Parson's and well-known California photographer George Lawrence (1868-1938).Lawrence is best known for his early aerial photography. Lawrence designed his own large-format cameras that specialized in aerial views. Lawrence photographed San José, Santa Cruz County, and San Francisco in the early 20th century. This collection represents his work covering the post-disaster of the 1906 earthquake in San Francisco. After taking aerial shots of San Francisco, he traveled south, photographing San Jose, Santa Cruz, Salinas, and Pacific Grove. The collection is arranged into a single series: Series I: California Photographs and Art 1846-1906 (bulk 1906).</p>

This collection is arranged into two series: Series I: Stella Onah Bunch Memorabilia, 1913-1920; Series II: Noelle Bobbe George (Hillis) Memorabilia, 1864-2005.</p>

	<p>The Italian World War I Collection (1914-1922, bulk 1914-1919), consists of English translations of several Italian newspapers and speech transcriptions from the Italian Senate; the upper house of the Italian legislature. The newspapers and speech records detail Italy's involvement in World War I and provide a historical context to understand the rise of the Nationalist Fascist Party led by Benito Mussolini following the Treaty of Versailles. The Senate records primarily represent individual responses to Atti degli Camera, Deputy Senator from Rome. The collection is arranged into two series: Series I: Italian Newspapers, 1914-1922 (bulk 1914-1919); Series II: Italian Senate, 1914-1918.</p>

	<p>The Civil War Centennial Publications Collection, (1914-1987, bulk 1961-1964) contains various publications referencing the American Civil War Centennial. The public commemoration of the Civil War passed by Congress in 1957 also created the United States Civil War Centennial Commission. The Commission was asked to work with each of the forty-eight U.S. states to create state-level commissions to commemorate the war, and to coordinate Centennial activities. Commemoration activities began in 1957, four years prior to the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Fort Sumter and ended in 1965 with the 100th anniversary of the surrender at Appomattox. This collection consists of maps, pamphlets and publications from each state celebrating the Civil War. The Civil War Centennial Publications Collection can easily be arranged into one series: Series I: Civil War Centennial Publications, 1914-1987 (bulk 1961-1964).</p>

	<p>The Landscapes Glass Plate Negatives Collection contains 299 original glass plate negatives of various late 19th century geographic landscapes and locations taken by an unknown photographer circa 1850-1886. The negatives represented include 252 images of New Zealand, including the now submerged Pink and White Terraces, as well as Lake Rotomahana and Milford Sound. The remaining images depict landscapes in Australia, Canada, Egypt, Europe, the United States and other unidentified locations. The collection is arranged into four series: Series I: New Zealand Slides (1850-1886); Series II: Europe and Egypt (1850-1886); Series III: United States and Australia (1850-1886); Series IV: Unidentified Landscapes (1850-1886).</p>

	<p>The Silicon Valley AIDS Leadership Center (SVALC) Records (1989-2011) consist of administrative records, audiotapes, ephemera, financial records, photographs, press clippings, and videotapes. The SVALC, which operated as a nonprofit agency from 1989 to 2011, raised money to benefit bay area AIDS resource centers through an annual "10k Walk for AIDS" event and other fundraisers. As a result of the economic recession and external difficulties securing corporate sponsors, The organization disbanded in early 2011. The materials are arranged into four series: 1. Administrative records (1997-2004); II. Advertising and press (1993-2006);  III. Fundraising ephemera (1990-2010); IV: Walk for AIDS photograph and video (1990-2009).</p>

	<p>The Spartan Daily Negative Collection documents campus life at San Jose State College from 1960 to 1968. The Spartan Daily News, was founded in 1934 and is published four days a week when classes are in session. The publication follows a broadsheet format and boasts a daily print circulation of over 6,000, as well as a daily on-line edition. The newspaper is produced by journalism and advertising students enrolled in SJSU's School of Journalism and Mass Communications. The collection of negatives represented documents student life, athletics, social events, various faculty members, administrators, and includes photographs of the ROTC, anti-war protests, and other civil rights demonstrations. Kuchenbeiser's Works, a San Jose foundry company, a Portuguese Fraternal Benefit Society, a newspaper clippings journal documenting World War I as well as miscellaneous manuscripts related to the Civil War, and the sheet music for a popular World War II song titled, " Send a Great Big Salami to your Boy Friend in the Army," published in 1943. The bulk of this collection relates to his Civil War service and includes documentation on his success in obtaining a Homestead Act property deed in 1880.</p>

	<p>The Amnon Goldworth Research Collection represents the research conducted by SJSU Philosophy Professor Amnon Goldworth to produce a single manuscript of the major philosophical works of British philosopher Jeremy Bentham (1748-1832). This collection consists of photocopies from Bentham’s papers, held by the University College in London, as well as Professor Goldworth's research and editorial notes. In 1983, Goldworth published "The Collected Works of Jeremy Bentham: Deontology Together with the Springs of Action and the Article of Utilitarianism," (Oxford University Press), which represents the culmination of Goldworth’s efforts to edit and transliterate the collected works of Bentham into a single volume.</p>

These stereograph cardsfeature graphic battle scenes, trench warfare, war strategy, military aircraft, weaponry, and key WWI leaders such as Raymond Poincare,President of the French Republic, Joseph Joffre, Commander-in-Chief of the French Army, and Sir Douglas Haig, Commander of the BritishArmies in France . Many of the scenes featured in the collection were taken in France. A Stereograph is included in the last box of thecollection.</p>

	<p>The Ted Sahl Social Justice Collection represents the work of local photojournalist Theodore Sahl (Ted). A long term resident ofSan José, Sahl, documented social, political, and cultural events in the Bay Area through photography. His early work largely focused on theLesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community in San José, but he also documented a range of social protest movements andpolitical events from the 1970s to the present. This collection represents the culmination of his work over the last thirty years, and is acompanion to the Ted Sahl Collection, which documents the LGTB community from 1976-2001, and the Black Americana Collection.</p>
