Abstract

This article examines the dramatic cultural, social, and political changes that have occurred in Chinese society through a consideration of Chinese clothing styles. The author examines the effects of the 1911 revolution, after which a new threshold for Chinese fashion emerged. The article discusses the changing political configuration in 20th-century China through an analysis of clothing styles. Clothing regulations varied from dynasty to dynasty in Chinese history due to the intricate relationship between politics and fashion.
