Gary Singh

Abstract

As powers around the world become more authoritarian, Singh suggests the power of the internet and web art as a tool to ridicule these social structures. Throughout history, commentary and ridicule through anonymity have been useful in challenging the political goliaths as seen in the dissertation “Thugs, Dacoits, and the Modern World-System of the Nineteenth Century” by Iftikhar Ahmad (1992). In the article, Singh compares military strategies of decentralization to the abilities of the common man via the internet. Both of these techniques weaken the targets through disruption and chaos.
