Abstract

A paper highlighting several books that explain theories of “cyberfeminism” by looking at works created by Sadie Plant, Sandy Stone and VNS Matrix. The author highlights written materials like Zeros and Ones (Sadie Plant, 1997) and The War of Desire and Technology (Sandy Stone, 1995) created by cyberfeminists to accredit the innovations of women in technological spaces. Though cyberfeminism has no concrete territory, an argument analyzed by the author entertains the idea that “technology is inherently feminine”, despite the male dominated industry of technology. The author also highlights Stone’s idea that female and queer-friendly bodies inhabit virtual spaces online which he attributes to the “posthuman” existence defined by cyberfeminists. Achieving a “posthuman” experience includes fulfilling one’s individual desire of exploring their own gender identity through artificial life, cyborgs, or role play.
