Abstract
This article describes the gender roles in technology. It gains awareness in our society that only men seem to be involved in technology. But in fact, women had the same contribution to this area. For example, the report illustrates the role of women in a symposium called "Chi Tek '97" in San Jose, California. According to the article, "participants discussed various aspects of women artists working in/with technology, including whether women needed to have a gender-specific forum at all”. This means women had the same role as men did and more contributions in art and tech. To illustrate, Anne-Marie Schleiner shared her opinion about a game character known as Lara Croft in “Tomb Raider”, a first-person shooter/adventure game with a female protagonist, to expand on the role of women in technology. In another aspect, the term "gender" in technology was introduced to expose the blurred line of issues that Abigail Solomon-Godeau and Joan Schuman shared in their publication. Many revolts against the social norm with cyberfeminism, such as Sadie Plant, Francesca da Rimini, Monica Vasilescu, using their medium to manifest their right to access art, technology, and more.
