Personal Commentary
I consider myself to have been very privileged to have taught at San Jose State University. I miss the interaction with my colleagues and the talented, dedicated students. However, since my retirement, I have had opportunity to pursue many interests including traveling. Favorite sites have been the Galapagos Islands, Greece and Greek Islands, So. America, India (including Kashmir and Nepal), and a safari to Kenya and Tanzania. Mexico continues to be a favorite destination.
Having been a student of voice (opera), I am a follower of San Francisco Opera and a member of the Wagner Society of No. California. This membership afforded me the opportunity to attend the Wagner Festival in Bayreuth, Germany, in August of this year. A rare treat!
The study of and the viewing and collecting of art has been another special interest of mine‑‑especially Modern and Mexican art. Reading and the game of Bridge (both party and duplicate) afford me much enjoyment. As do physical activities including walking, swimming, golfing and a "Y" membership. Gardening is a new and challenging interest.
Keeping in touch with family and friends throughout the U.S. is most enjoyable. Being a member of EFA, SJSU, is an added plus.
