Personal Commentary
After I retired, I committed myself totally to spending time with my husband. We traveled extensively in U.S. (Boston, North/South Carolina, Washington, D.C., Williamsburg and Civil War Trail, the Amish country, the Southwest Indian Territory, the Rockies, Ashland, the Sierras, The Deserts of Borrego Springs and Tucson area •..). Our international travels included Turkey, Morocco, Switzerland, England, France, Canada, Costa Rico. We are great enthusiasts of elderhostel travel!
When he died, July 1995, I was appointed to the California Student Aid Commission by Senate President pro tern, Bill Lockyer (a former student!). The Commission is made up of dynamic, bright, powerful people committed to providing higher education as investment in California's future. My appointment expiration date is O‑O‑00! Imagine‑‑the next century is almost here!
This past year another former student, Russell Means, paid tribute to me in his autobiography Where White Man Fears to Tread‑‑a source of pride.
Life is full of friends all over the world and wonderful family. I am blessed.
