Personal Commentary
After retiring we returned to Salem, OR where we enjoy life. After finishing my work on Ceanothus for The Jepson ManuaL Higher Plants of California, I was asked to provide the treatment for the same genus for The Flora North American project. This effort is headquartered at the Missouri Botanic Garden in St. Louis, MO.
To properly do this treatment, I needed a university connection. The herbarium staff at Oregon State University has provided me with the necessary support and secured a Courtesy Professor position in the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology. My treatment will appear in Volume 7 of the 22 volume flora which includes all plants in North America north of Mexico. We just returned from St. Louis putting together the finishing touches including necessary distributional data and art work. My work on this project will be completed by the end of 1996.
The first two volumes of Flora of North America have already been published by the Oxford University Press and the third volume is ready for publication.
