Abstract
The Internet has rapidly grown beyond its initial stage of development, from simple static forms, into an emerging technology that is suitable for utilization by commerce. The technology to support the increased user demand is also changing. Distributed Objects are the most recent attempt to address the complexities associated with this new paradigm.
The purpose of this report is to assess this new technology by implementing the look up” function of a three tier Trader service with CORBA as the middleware, with JavaBeans as the programming language and JDBC as back end database bridge. The results of this implementation are compared with the original objectives set out by the organization behind CORBA, and the general picture is assessed along with a comparison with the main competing technology.
