Abstract
Parking studies are used to evaluate the current supply of parking or to plan for future parking needs. Some parking studies deal with the adequacy of parking for a particular need; others are designed to evaluate parking conditions in a specific area; and some others studies are designed to evaluate residential parking impacted by encroachment from outside parkers.
Independently of the reason may be to originate a parking study, it is necessary to define the area that will be affected by the analysis.
In this particular case the parking study is concentrated on Lincoln Avenue Neighborhood Business District, formerly known as Downtown Willow Glen in the city of San Jose, California.
Willow Glen was originally a small town with its own downtown commercial area. When it was incorporated into San Jose several years ago, its downtown remained a major shopping district for the surrounding neighborhood. Today the Willow Glen Neighborhood Business District continues to attract a growing number of customers, even more after a revitalization strategy project was implemented.
