Abstract

Residents of the Bay Area face many challenges, these include an increasing employment and population growth, the shortage of market rate and affordable housing, and a decreasing quality of life for both its residents and workforce. The purpose of this project is to explore the current housing crisis in the Bay Area, by reviewing housing, economic, population growth, and employment data. As part of the housing assessment in Santa Clara County, an overview of the Section 8 Housing Program will be discussed, and this project will be concluded by an informational survey, which was conducted in two San Jose Neighborhoods.
