Abstract
Life Cycle Analysis is a process employed in the evolution of systems from the time of need identification to the time of deployment of the system for use. This thesis project developed a societal cost approach to life cycle analysis, including the new design approach, and cost models. Societal Cost Methodology is a total life cycle analysis and costing that includes not only the acquisition and ownership cost but also the environmental, ecological, disposal, and societal costs. This methodology emphasizes that environmental and societal impacts should be considered in the early design stage so that product or system can be amended before they reach the disposal stage.
The traditional and modern approaches are described and their limitations discussed. For bringing any system or product into being it is very important to address its economic considerations. Hence, Life Cycle economic analyses, costing methods, benefits, and drawbacks are presented. Traditional methodology of cost models, and analytical evaluation criteria are discussed.
