Abstract
Every software product goes through several stages of Software Engineering during its development, such as the Conceptual design, Preliminary design, Detailed design. Development, Alpha test. Beta tests and Release and it goes through Maintenance after its release (Ref. 3).
The defects or "Problems" in a software product can be reported in any stage of the product life cycle. Every such problem needs to be identified and assigned for correction. A Problem Management System is necessary to maintain the information about problems that have been reported against the product. This system should also help scheduling, clearing backlog and should be able to provide some vital statistical data that is important to both the developers and the customers.
The Software Problem Management System (SPMS) was designed with these requirements in mind and it does the following:
- Capture Information
- Validate Information
- Analyze Information
- Present the quantitative analysis in graphical form
- Provide Information to facilitate Managerial decisions
The functionality of the SPMS makes it a very strong and extensible Software Engineering tool that fulfills all the requirements mentioned above.
