Abstract
The project “Suite Generator will automate the existing manual suite generation process at Cisco Systems, Inc. A suite file is a set of test cases which serves as an input to the existing Automated Test System (ATS). The manual process of suite generation is time consuming, tedious, and susceptible to typographical, logical, and hardware related errors. The proposed system aims to improve test efficiency, flexibility, and save money in addition to correcting the drawbacks of the manual system. Each design stage focuses on eliminating errors in the current suite generation process. A Tcl/Tk based Graphical User Interface eliminates typographical errors by use of buttons, listboxes, and popup routers to extract windows. Implementation of TELNET protocol, interacts with actual available interfaces. Thus eliminates testing of invalid interfaces. Suite Logic manipulates the topology database into a valid customized test suites.
The proposed automated system reduces the suite set up time by 77%, and total image test time by 18%. It also eliminates the possibility of failures due to typographical, logical. and hardware related errors.
