Abstract
We present a network management course that allows students hands on experience with real hardware to learn about modern network management protocols and techniques. In the past two years, we have taught the course twice now to approximately 70 students. We share how we used an inexpensive cluster of 90 Raspberry Pis to give students a feel for working with real hardware and protocol implementations. The students worked to extend open source software to implement their solutions. All resulting software is available as open source.
