Abstract
Service-learning and outreach activities in college classes have been demonstrated to have an impact on the retention and graduation rates of college students in engineering. The paper discusses how service-learning activities can be incorporated into Aerospace Engineering upper-division classes. In particular, examples from current practices in the class "Aerostructures I" at San Jose State University are presented based on activities performed in Fall 2019. Assessment of the activity and student evaluations are also presented.
