Abstract
This paper reports the results of a survey distributed to aerospace engineering students at the end of the Spring 2020 and Fall 2020 semesters at San Jose State University (SJSU). SJSU aerospace engineering students come from a very diverse background. The survey asked students to reflect about their personal and academic experience, their interaction with their peers and instructors, their learning environment and their future plans. Students are very pessimistic about their future, both in terms of their academic success and their ability to secure internships and jobs. Recommendations to the academic leaderships and the industry partners in the aerospace engineering community is provided in order to support the current aerospace engineering students as a way to develop a diverse, successful and well-rounded workforce.
