Abstract

This flash ethnography, set in the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca, describes a close, long-term relationship between the author and a campesino and the challenges of maintaining such personal bonds over time and geographical distance. It explores the affective dimensions of ethnographic fieldwork and its emotional impact.
