Abstract
This chapter provides three perspectives regarding the development and implementation of a ambitious program. Josh Fryday, the program’s architect, first describes his vision for building the #CaliforniansForAll College Corps from his unique perch within the Office of the Governor as California’s Chief Service Officer. The chapter discusses implementing the initiative at a large urban public university. It deals with the experiences and words of Fellows themselves. In the coming years, California Volunteers, Office of the Governor will be supporting, mobilizing, and deploying across multiple programs a force of young people in California nearly twice the size of the Peace Corps-the gold standard for national service programs in the country. With College Corps, students are able to build professional skills, networks, and social capital often only available to those who already have access. College Corps students no longer have to decide between pursuing their passion or a paycheck.
