Abstract
Sentiment analysis of movie reviews is a significant application of Natural Language Processing (NLP) that determines whether a review expresses a positive or negative opinion. This analysis is valuable for understanding audience feedback, market trends, and consumer preferences (1-2).The goal of this project is to classify movie reviews as positive or negative using basic NLPheuristics without relying on advanced machine learning or deep learning models.The primary contribution of this research is demonstrating that straightforward heuristic methods, such as word frequency analysis and simple rule-based systems, can achieve reasonable accuracy (3-4). While advanced methods typically offer higher accuracy, heuristic-based models provide an essential benchmark for assessing trade-offs between simplicity and performance..
