Abstract

The research libraries have benefited a lot with the aid of the social networking sites and this can hardly be overestimated. Due to the spread of the information technology in the university libraries, the user’s expectations, the type of services that the library can offer and the role of the library staff have all been changed. The research objective in general was to be familiar with the extent of familiarity and comfort of Pakpatan City library and Sahiwal City library staffs in Pakistan with the social media. The method of descriptive surveying was used to obtain these findings. The sample was made up of 60 different employees of the library. The data was obtained in form of a questionnaire. The descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data. The questionnaire established that majority of the library staff advertise its offerings and resources at its entity via Facebook and WhatsApp. However, we still have big issues with the application of social media such as insufficient accessibility to the internet, inadequate power supply and lack of adequate social media tools. A lot of recommendations had to be given as a consequence, including ensuring that all libraries offices have access to the internet and that the librarians have adequate access to uninterrupted supply of electricity.
