Description
On April 18th, 2024 SAASC hosted Thera Webb, the Women@MIT Project Archivist, for an enlightening conversation that challenges biases and celebrates the hidden treasures of women’s scientific history. This presentation embarked on a thought-provoking journey into the enthralling intersection of science and history. Together, we delved deep into the remarkable yet often overlooked contributions of women in biology and chemistry at MIT from 1865 to 2024, as portrayed in the captivating exhibit "Under the Lens." Thera Webb illuminated the meticulous process of archiving these invaluable narratives, shedding light on the pervasive gender bias that has shaped historical records.
