Guest speakers include Stephanie Roach, Cataloging, Online and Digital Resources Librarian at the College of San Mateo Library, Chris Brown, Senior Community Library Manager of Contra Costa County Library, and Daniel Kiely, Academic Librarian at Diablo Valley College.

In honor of ALA's Banned Books Week, SJSU ALASC and SLIS Connect hosted a virtual read-out on September 25, 2014. SJSU iSchool students took turns describing and reading excerpts from banned books of their choice.

On September 9, 2014, SJSU ALASC hosted an ALA Round Table Informational Panel in which representatives from three Round Tables discussed their experiences as officers, the mission and goals of each Round Table, professional benefits, and ways for students to get involved. Speakers included Catherine Odson of the New Members Round Table, Julie Winkelstein of the Social Responsibilities Round Table, and Peter Coyl of the GLBT Round Table.

Everything You Wanted to Know About Serials, Publishing and Open Access

On August 20, 2012, SJSU ALASC and SLIS Connect co-hosted an information session about serials, publishing and open access. Speakers included Katy DiVittorio, SJSU iSchool 2012 alumni and serials librarian at Auraria Library in Denver Colorado, and Bob Boissy, manager of account development at Springer and president of the North American Serials Interest Group.
