Rights for Authors

The Beethoven Journal is an open access journal and encourages all authors to publish their work under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC-BY) License. The journal will also publish under more restrictive Creative Commons licenses at the author’s request.

Publishing under a Creative Commons license allows authors to retain the copyright in their work. Assigning the Creative Commons license gives The Beethoven Journal all the required permissions to publish the work, so no further publication agreement is required.

Attribution and Usage Policies

Because authors retain copyright, they may re-use their work in any context.

Readers other than the original author should refer to the specific Creative Commons license that has been assigned to an article. Under the CC-BY license, it is generally acceptable to re-use the work as long as there is appropriate attribution. Other Creative Commons licenses provide for additional restrictions to certain kinds of re-use – please refer to the license assigned to the article you are interested in using.
