Personal Commentary
Among our many post retirement activities is more traveling and, due to the fact that my 80 plus year old back simply can't do the gardening as much as a 40 year old back, I still thoroughly enjoy puttering around the house and garden.
Among our several "post retirement" trips have been a 3 month trip driving through Europe; a month in South America‑‑Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Peru; a month in China, including some of the inner provinces; a month in or on the Mediterranean visiting Egypt, Turkey, Israel, Greece and some of the Greek Islands; and another few weeks in Eastern Europe‑‑"Yugoslavia," the Balkans and Russia.
My wife visits Hong Kong and such areas as Ching Mai, Bali, Malaysia, etc. every couple of years‑‑which trips I gave up several years ago as I am not a "shopper"‑‑and she's going again this year, probably for the last time, as Hong Kong reverts to Chinese control in 1997.
We have our "stateside" visits seeing friends and children. This year will include Hawaii, Minneapolis, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas and New Mexico.
Away from such travels, we've been tailgating all Spartan football games with the same retired or retarded faculty group for over 30 years. And there's a monthly retired faculty poker party.
All on top of a heavy social calendar of dinners (even dinner dancing! with the Holiday Circlers.
My wife’s involvement with Montalvo, San Jose State Faculty Wives and Associates, Saratoga Foothill Club, several sewing and weaving groups keeps us active in those circles too. And there's "SIRS" Men's Club.
And we're very active in our local church with George serving both as Senior Warden and Lay Preacher conducting Morning Prayer Services when our regular Vicar is conducting services elsewhere once a month.
I guess you've seen that we stay busy, busy, busy‑‑and we love it.
