Personal Commentary

Dr. Mengxiong Liu is an Emerita Faculty member of San Jose State University. Dr. Mengxiong Liu served as Engineering Librarian and part-time faculty member of Library and Information Science. She received her Ph.D. in Library and Information Studies from University of Michigan and her MLS from the University of Denver. Her teaching and research efforts have focused on human information seeking behavior, reference and instructional services, and digital libraries. She has published numerous research articles in scholarly journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters. Her articles on human citing behavior were frequently cited by researchers and scholars. She was invited to lecture on Digital Libraries and Reference Services in the Digital Environment in the National Library of China in Beijing and the National Taichung Library in Taiwan. In addition to teaching and research, she has been actively involved in professional organizations, such as the American Library Association (ALA) and the Chinese American Librarians Association (CALA). She was the former CALA President and served on the Steering Committee of ALA Spectrum Scholarship and ALA Diversity Council. In 2007, she received the Fulbright Senior Specialist Award and completed her Fulbright visit in Uruguay.
