U.S. Naval Reserve 1936‑42 enlisted.
Active duty Army from October 1942 to June 1946.
Attended Infantry OCS and Infantry Officers' Motor Maintenance School.
Joined 41st Infantry Division at Zamboango Mindinao, Philippine Islands and served through the Occupation of Japan returning to the United States in 1946.
Joined 49th Infantry Division, California Army National Guard and served in various capacities until retirement in 1979 with rank of Brigadier General.
Military schools attended: Infantry Officer Basic‑‑Infantry Officer Advanced‑Command and General Staff College‑‑Adjutant Generals Schools, Basic and Advanced‑‑National War College.

Personal Commentary
In 1973, I started writing a monthly generic article concerned with some phase of smaller firm management. The article was circulated to a number of trade journals, each in different industries. I have continued this writing since retiring from the University.
In 1975, I started teaching and continue to teach a University of California correspondence course in Small Business Management.
