Abstract
This memoir chronicles the experience of an alienated cubicle drone who stumbles into beekeeping. Stung paints a picture of modern office life, with its absurd emails, micromanaging supervisors, office politics and incoming Tweets, and contrasts it with the world of honey bees. Through play-by-play description of a beginning beekeeper's experiences, I relate facts about bee behavior and biology, the history of beekeeping, and the basics of a beekeeper's practice, which provide joyous counterpoint to the day-to-day misery of earning a paycheck. In then end, the lessons of beekeeping provide the perspective necessary to endure a career in cubicle-land and feel a little happiness to boot.
