Abstract
The main theme of this thesis is the integration and convergence of the newest technologies in the mobile and cloud computing fields. Emphasis is placed on ways in which these two types of technologies can be merged and integrated to provide novel solutions to existing problems and to form new compelling innovative applications. A new methodology for modeling and prototyping the integration of standalone mobile applications with standalone cloud applications to form new integrated mobile-cloud applications is proposed. This novel integration approach is based on the executable Business Process Execution Language (BPEL). The proposed integration method facilitates the reuse of existing technology and intellectual property from both mobile and cloud spaces to form new integrated mobile-cloud applications that build upon the original existing standalone technologies.
