Abstract
This thesis project is a magical realist collage novel that deals with faith, guilt, and identity through its four main characters and their interactions in a relatively isolated environment. Three of the characters struggle with having lost someone, and the fourth character, a child who perceives himself to be a god, is witness to and tries to have a hand in shaping the lives of some of the adults for the better. At the same time, the novel also tracks the child's development of his identity against the backdrop of his guardian's continuous—and not entirely positive—influence, and the input he receives from the other adults in his life.
