Abstract
Depth Charge is a collection of poetry by Xennial poet Megan Alfaro, whose influences are Anne Sexton, Sylvia Plath, Elizabeth Bishop, and Brigit Pegeen Kelly. The collection is composed of four sections, each containing between eight and twelve poems. Section I, Little Triumphs, contains poems thematically related to new beginnings. Section II, Brackish Tomorrow, contains poems thematically related to humanity’s relationship with nature. Section III, Subtle Tools, contains poems thematically related to loss and suffering. Section IV, Unwound, contains poems thematically related to anger, entropy, and bitterness. The poems in this collection exhibit a broad spectrum of figurative language, free verse and strict metrical adherence.
