Abstract
The title of my thesis “The Hikers” serves as an extended metaphor in which the hike itself represents my spiritual journey of becoming a poet. The process of hiking in this thesis represents my connection with something greater than myself. All the poems in this manuscript aim to show various ways in how poetry also helps me connect with my own humanity.
