Description

A new publication model of Open Access Journal (OAJ) has emerged and is developing rapidly. However, there is debate about the scholarly quality of OAJs. In the academic institutions, the disagreement can be reflected at the discussion of a colleague’s tenure and promotion process. In order to examine the scholarly quality of OAJs in comparison with traditional peer-review journals, the bibliometric method is used to identify the characteristics of OAJs, and examine the scholarly quality of OAJs in library and information science. The research is progress, but the general description of preliminary findings will be shared.
