Abstract

Interview with Chris Esparza, director of community development for the School of Arts and Culture at the Mexican Heritage Plaza, conducted as part of the Mosaic Atlas project. Topics discussed include his work with the School of Arts and Culture, Veggielution, San Jose Jazz, Mariachi, and his non-profit organization Giant Creative Services. He also discusses food cultures, the way in which youth engage with multicultural arts, and the neighborhoods Naglee Park, Mayfair, and greater East Side San José. As part of the Mosaic Atlas Project, SJSU students and faculty from the Anthropology and Geography departments interviewed people who support and produce art throughout the Bay Area.
