Abstract
The interview with Jeremy Peters, librarian at Foothill College, highlights the library's mission to move beyond being a traditional repository of information, instead serving as a"living mirror" for a diverse student population. The library provides support for the LGBTQ+ community and people of color. As a librarian, Peters emphasizes a core philosophy of the library. The art collections presented at the library allow students to view their own lived experiences reflected. This intentional curation ensures that the library remains representative and inclusive, providing a space where marginalized groups can find recognition. Peters reflects on the intangible elements of safety, noting that the presence of stff in queer spaces and the use of visible markers create a culture where students naturally coalesce. Ultimately, the library is presented not just as an academic resource, but as a physical and cultural hub where LGBTQ+ art students are seen and represented. As part of the Mosaic Atlas project, Mosaic Staff and Volunteers, SJSU students, and faculty from the Anthropology and Film, Theater, and Dance Departments interviewed people who support and produce art throughout the Bay Area.
