Abstract
This interview with Enoc de la Rocha, owner of Vampire Battle Mansion, highlights the shop's role as a unique "anti-tattoo shop" hub that prioritizes safety, geek culture, and activism. Vampire Battle Mansion serves as a vital social and professional hub in Santa Clara city, intentionally designed to dismantle the often intimidating stigma associated with traditional tattoo culture. For de la Rocha, the shop is a byproduct of his experiences of receiving greater acceptance from the LGBTQ+ community rather than heteronormative-dominated spaces. The tattoo shop redefines itself as a community hub becoming a high-quality, safe space. As part of the Mosaic Atlas project, Mosaic Staff and Volunteers, SJSU students, and faculty from the Anthropology and Film, Theater, and Dance Departments interviewed people who support and produce art throughout the Bay Area.
