Philosophy of Asian American Literature: Discourses & Pedagogies

For more information, please see Asian American Literature: Discourses & Pedagogies Aims and Scope page.

    Who Can Submit?

Anyone may submit an original article to be considered for publication in Asian American Literature: Discourses & Pedagogies provided he or she owns the copyright to the work being submitted or is authorized by the copyright owner or owners to submit the article. There is no membership or submission fee required.  Authors maintain the copyright of their work and will have ultimate say if and when their work is published first by AALDP as well as republished elsewhere.  However, as AALDP requires neither submission fees nor subscription fees from readers, we do asks authors who republish work that first appeared in AALDP to make a task deductible donation of their profits back to AALDP to encourage the journal’s growth and continued success and to help it make small purchases.

In addition to peer-reviewed articles, we are also interested in reviews of both literature and scholarly works.  We are particularly interested in reviews of literature which focus on the efficacy of the text within a college or high school-level classroom.

    General Submission Rules

Submitted articles cannot have been previously published, nor be forthcoming in an archival journal or book (print or electronic). In addition, by submitting material to Asian American Literature: Discourses & Pedagogies, the author is stipulating that the material is not currently under review at another journal (electronic or print) and that he or she will not submit the material to another journal (electronic or print) until the completion of the editorial decision process at Asian American Literature: Discourses & Pedagogies. If you have concerns about the submission terms for Asian American Literature: Discourses & Pedagogies, please contact the editors.

    Formatting Requirements

Asian American Literature: Discourses & Pedagogies has no general rules about the formatting of articles upon initial submission but we do prefer that documents sent to our referees are double-spaced. There are, however, rules governing the formatting of the final submission.  If accepted for publication, we would like a document which is formatted per MLA standards, and, since many people read the documents online, we require footnotes rather than endnotes.  Please do not use tabs for the formatting of indentations, works cited entries, etc. as the use of tabs will create obstacles when the essays is put into the final form for publication.  We encourage you to submit documents in some recent version of Microsoft Word.  The journal will then create a PDF version of it for publication.

It is understood that the current state of technology of Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF) is such that there are no, and can be no, guarantees that documents in PDF will work perfectly with all possible hardware and software configurations that readers may have.
