Personal Commentary

After 14 years at SJSU, Diane Guerrazzi retired at the rank of full professor and was granted the status of Faculty Emeritus. An Emmy-award winning television news reporter, she was the adviser to SJSU's Update News, taught newswriting, international journalism and courses in mass communication. The academic year 2021-2022, she was resident director for CSU International Programs in Florence, Italy. During her time at SJSU, she served as principal investigator of three major grants from the US State Department, totalling $2.5 million, to modernize journalism and journalism education in Afghanistan and the Republic of Georgia. She organized and directed journalism training academies in Turkey, India and the United Arab Emirates. Over the course of six summers, she led university students studying in Italy, Greece, Germany, Oman and the UAE. She now resides in Italy.
