Abstract

Interview with Vanessa Shieh, Co-Executive Director of the School of Arts and Culture at the Mexican Heritage Plaza, conducted as part of the Mosaic Atlas project . Vanessa Shieh has worked with Cultural Initiatives Silicon Valley, an important arts initiative, that operated from 1997 through 2006. Topics discussed include the history and cultural complexity of California as a whole and the Bay Area. and the non-profit organizations that operate to foster cultural arts in Santa Clara County, especially the work of the School of Arts and Culture and their initiatives. As part of the Mosaic Atlas Project, SJSU students and faculty from the Anthropology and Geography departments interviewed people who support and produce art throughout the Bay Area.
